East Durham College

Appointed in July 2006 as project manager and contract administrator, LPS assisted the College in relocating from their old premises into a new single building together with a new sports hall and all-weather sports pitch with floodlighting, at Willerby Grove in Peterlee. The £35.5m project included curriculum areas for courses in hair and beauty, childcare, health and social care, construction workshops, art and design, catering and hospitality, computing, performing arts and media, sports, travel and tourism. A large 250-seat performing arts theatre was also included in the main building together with a large learning resource centre, refectory, conference facilities, board room and offices. The works were phased on the existing Howletch site to allow the College to operate as normal throughout the build period. The new main building was opened to students in January 2009 and the all-weather sports pitch was completed in July 2009. The works were all successfully completed on time and within budget. LPS continues to work with the college assisting them with the redevelopment of their Houghall CAmpus in Durham City.
